How Legacies Can Last an Eternity
After my mom passed, old friends reached out to me to share stories of past interactions with her. It was amazing to read what friends and acquaintances remembered. The stories poured in over DMs, emails, and even handwritten letters.
One story that comes to mind was from an old childhood neighbor. She vividly remembers baking with us and how my mom let all the kids take a turn: cracking an egg, measuring oil, pouring milk etc. My mom cheered during their moments of independence because she had such confidence in each and every child.
This meaningful moment had imprinted my friend’s memory and influenced her as a mother herself. She takes time to bake with her kids (of course letting them crack, measure, and pour) all while remembering how special it once made her feel.
“When we take these snippets of memories of others and let them make us better people, legacies last an eternity”
- quote from my childhood friend’s message
